Get Organized!
Gather all of your ingredients and equipment before you get started!
Get Prepped!
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 8 inch cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt until well combined. Set aside.
Using a stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment, add the butter and the sugar and mix on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, roughly 3 minutes.
Add eggs, one at a time, allowing the mixture to mix until fully combined after each addition. Add vanilla.
Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk (or milk), beginning and ending with flour (3 additions of flour and 2 of milk), allowing the mixture to fully incorporate after each addition.
Get Cooking!
Add the batter into the greased cake pan and bake for 30 – 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Place cakes on a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan and placing back onto the wire rack.
