Put the masa harina into a medium mixing bowl. Begin by adding almost all the water. You may not need the whole amount of water, or you may need a bit more.
Mix the dough until it just comes together, and it should feel like soft playdough. It should not be sticky- if the dough is too sticky, add more masa harina. If the dough feels crumbly, add a little bit more water.
Once mixed, cover the dough with a wet kitchen towel and keep covered whenever not mixing.
Divide the dough into 4 pieces and shape into balls. Using a tortilla press, press the dough into a circle.

Preheat your frying pan over medium heat for 2 – 3 minutes.
Place your pressed tortilla into the pan and cook on either side for about 30 seconds. Remove from the pan and allow to cool for 1 minute before handling.
Once slightly cooled, pinch the edges of the tortilla with your fingers to create a border. Cover with a kitchen towel until ready to serve.
