Blueberry Compote

Enjoy this sauce as a delicious topping with pancakes, mixed into plain yogurt or blend it smooth to use a sauce for plating beautiful desserts.

4 cups frozen blueberries1/2 cup water1/2 cup sugar1/2 lemon, juiced

Get Organized!

Gather your mis en place; get together all of the equipment needed for the recipe and gather all of the ingredients.

Get Prepped!

Prepare your lemon by cutting it in half and squeezing out the juice from one side, be careful to remove any seeds from the lemon juice.

Measure out your blueberries, water, and sugar directly into medium pot.

Get Cooking!

Add the lemon juice to your other ingredients in the medium pot, and stir with a wooden spoon.

Cook over medium heat about 10 minutes, until blueberries have broken down slightly and the liquid has reduced by about half. 

Optional: If you want to make a smooth sauce to be used for plating desserts, transfer the compote to a blender and blend until smooth, adding a small amount more water if needed to reach desired consistency.
