BBQ Sauce

Don’t buy bbq sauce, you already have all of the ingredients needed for it in your cupboard! To add sweetness, it’s great to add seasonal fruit such as strawberries or cherries.

Ingredients
2 cups tomatoes, pureed1/4 cup tomato paste1 cup strawberries, chopped1/2 cup apple cider vinegar1/4 cup packed brown sugar2 tablespoons honey1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce1 tablespoon lemon juice1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Pinch black pepper1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional) Salt to taste

Gather your mise en place; get together all of the equipment needed for the recipe and gather all of the ingredients.

Get Prepped!

Remove greens from the top of the strawberries and chop into quarters.

Cut lemon and half and squeeze out juice, measure what is needed.

Measure out tomatoes, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, worcestershire, chili powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and hot sauce if using.

Get Cooking!

Combine all ingredients in a medium pot.

Simmer on medium heat until boiling, and turn down to a low simmer. Cook for 2025 minutes until flavours all come together and sauce has reduced. Season with salt to taste.
