Royal Icing

The perfect icing to decorate your sugar cookies with!

Ingredients
2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted1 1/2 tablespoons meringue powder4 -5 tablespoons room temperature water

Get Organized!

Gather all of your ingredients and equipment before you get started!

Get Prepped!

Measure the sugar and meringue powder into the bowl of the stand mixer with the whisk attachment. 

Measure the water into a separate bowl. 

Add ¾ tablespoons of water into the bowl of the mixer while on low speed. Increase the speed to high and continue mixing. Add water a few drops at a time until the mixture is the appropriate consistency for your decorating (thicker for piping, thinner for flooding or glazing. 

Get Cooking!

Continue to beat the icing in the stand mixer for another 5 minutes until glossy and extremely smooth in consistency. Transfer the icing to a piping bag and start decorating. When finished, let the cookies dry undisturbed for at least 3 – 4 hours for a completely hard icing.
