Flour Tortillas

There is no comparison with fresh tortillas! A simple recipe that only needs flour, salt, fat and water! For this recipe we will top them with refried beans, eggs and sausage.

3 cups all purpose flour5 tablespoons shortening1 tablespoon sugar1/2 teaspoon salt Water

Get Organized!

Gather your mise en place; get together all of the equipment needed for the recipe and gather your ingredients.

Get Prepped!

Measure all ingredients except for water into a large mixing bowl. Mix well with hands until shortening is fully incorporated. Slowly add water, ÂĽ cup at a time, until dough forms a ball and is smooth. Divide into 14 even pieces, roll into a ball and let rest 30 minutes to an hour.

Get Cooking!

Roll the dough out to about the size of a small dinner plate. Preheat the large frying pan over medium high heat. Cook the tortilla 2 – 3 minutes on each side, until it begins to slightly bubble and brown very lightly.
