1/2 cup sugar1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder1/4 cup all-purpose flour1/4 teaspoon salt2 large eggs, lightly beaten1 1/2 cups milk1 teaspoon vanilla extract2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces1 recipe perfect all butter pie dough

Get Organized!

Gather your mise en place; get together all of the equipment needed for the recipe and gather your ingredients.

Get Prepped!

Measure out sugar, cocoa, flour, and salt in a medium bowl.

In a separate bowl, lightly beat eggs.

Gradually whisk the dry mixture into the eggs.

Stir in milk until smooth.

Pour mixture into the prepared pie shell. Dot the top with butter pieces.

Get Cooking!

Bake 3540 minutes until the center is set but still slightly wobbly. Check by gently shaking the pan; it should have a slight jiggle in the middle.

Remove from oven and let cool at least 20 minutes before serving. Can be served warm or chilled.
