Growing Chefs! Ontario Whipped Herb Butter

Whipped Herb Butter

Whipped herb butter is a simple compound butter that adds rich flavour to breads, vegetables, and grilled dishes. Fresh herbs, garlic, and a touch of lemon brighten the butter, while whipping creates a light, airy texture that’s perfect for spreading over focaccia or scones.”

Directions

Get Organized!

Gather all of your ingredients and equipment before you get started. Allow the butter to soften at room temperature for about 30 minutes so it is easy to whip.

Get Prepped!

Finely chop the parsley, chives, and basil. Grate or finely mince the garlic and zest the lemon.

Measure all of the remaining ingredients before beginning.

Get Cooking!

Place the softened butter into a mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer on medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes, or until light and fluffy.

Add the parsley, chives, basil, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Continue mixing until the herbs are evenly distributed and the butter is smooth and airy.

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Transfer the whipped herb butter to a serving bowl and serve immediately with warm focaccia, savoury scones, or grilled vegetables. Any leftover butter can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to one week.
