Grinder Salad

The grinder sandwich is a type of sub sandwich, and this recipe went viral because of the familiar delicious flavour of the salad. The salad is loaded with all of your typical sub ingredients, feel free to add to the list and throw on your favourites.

Ingredients
1 head of iceberg lettuce1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved1/2 red onion, finely diced1/2 cup pepperoncini, sliced1 green pepper, thinly sliced1/2 cup black olives, sliced1/2 cup roasted turkey, chopped1/2 cup salami, chopped1/2 cup provolone cheese, sliced

Dressing

Ingredients
1 cup mayonaise2 tablespoons red wine vinegar1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes2 teaspoons dried oregano1 teaspoon dried basil1/2 teaspoon dried thyme salt to taste pepper to taste

Get Organized!

Gather your mise en place; get together all of the equipment needed for the recipe and gather your ingredients.

Get Prepped!

Chop the iceberg lettuce head in half and thinly shred the lettuce.

Cut the cherry tomatoes in half.

Thinly slice the pepperoncini.

Cut the green pepper in half and remove the core and seeds. Thinly slice the pepper

Measure out the sliced black olives, and drain them of any liquid.

Roll the deli meat up, and slice thinly into bite sized pieces.

Roll the provolone cheese up and slice thinly into bite sized pieces.

Measure out the mayo, red wine vinegar, red pepper flakes, oregano, basil and dried thyme together. Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix together.

Get Cooking!

On a large platter, lay out the lettuce. Slather about half of the dressing on top of the lettuce.

Add all of the ingredients on top of the lettuce, and drizzle with additional dressing.
