Libro Credit Union

At Libro Credit Union, we’ve been delighted to partner with Growing Chefs! Ontario for more than 10 years because we know we share the core values that matter. Our current commitment is a three-year funding partnership that supports education programs for children, designed to build cooking skills, food literacy and an understanding of food systems. This ties into our focus on food accessibility as one of the areas where we make special efforts to make an impact.

At Libro, we love to tell people about the Libro difference – centred in our award-winning Owner service and our positive values. We believe that Libro, and credit unions like ours, provide the values-based banking services that Canadians need, from an organization that shares their values and makes a difference for communities.

Libro is a financial co-operative, meaning everyone who does business with us is part-owner of a company with over 750 employees and more than 110,000 Owners. We share our annual profits with Owners and we’re proud to make our profits in a way that positively impacts the world around us. We work to strengthen our communities by making strategic investments and partnering with not-for-profit groups to make a collective impact on the region.

We focus our community investment in the areas where we can make the most impact: employment, financial resiliency, housing, and local food accessibility. And making sure that healthy food, grown here in Ontario, is freely available to people nearby has always been important to us, as a credit union with deep roots in the agricultural community. We know that all these issues are linked to the financial well-being that we want to foster in everyone we meet.

Since 2018, Libro has been a certified B Corp, part of a global movement that pledges to use business as a force for good, reinforcing our long-held values as a credit union and measuring us against performance standards that are comprehensive, transparent and verified. At Libro, we really do believe in using business as a force for good, and that it’s time for businesses to measure purpose beyond profit.

We love partnering with Growing Chefs and hope everyone who supports food accessibility and shares Libro values will come and talk to us. The more people bank with Libro, the better our impact on those around us.
