Camp 2021 Update!
Many have asked, so we wanted to give a quick update on our plan. We do still plan to offer day camp this summer, but it is currently impossible to provide details on what camp will look like, exactly.
Our goal always, is to provide an amazing hands-on cooking camp. Last year, due to COVID19 restrictions, we ran a modified camp which excluded the interactive cooking activities and incorporated detailed and strict social distancing and COVID safety procedures. With the ever-changing landscape, we continue to adapt, as needed, and as outlined by our local health authorities.
As such, we have decided to put off opening registration for Know Your Roots Camp, until we have a better understanding of what it will entail. Our hope is to announce the full details, and open registration, at the start of May.

We at Growing Chefs! are excited about good food, and even more excited to share it with London’s youth! That’s why we’ve developed Know Your Roots (KYR) summer day camp. This week-long program is an opportunity for children ages 9-13 to get hands-on experience in everything from growing to cooking (using demos) to serving good, healthy food!
The Growing Chefs! Ontario mission is to get kids excited about healthy, wholesome food. Our vision is that engaging food education programs for children can catalyze the evolution of a healthier, empowered community that is engaged with its food system. The KYR program will empower children in their relationship with food by encouraging curiosity, adventure, compassion, and skills development. KYR is a safe and fun space where skilled staff/volunteers facilitate unique learning opportunities, all based in principles of experiential learning and systems thinking. A comprehensive agenda of activities at KYR will include opportunities to learn about diverse concepts in food systems, and allow campers to follow their own curiosities. Years of food education experience combined with years of camp delivery have taught us that the best learning is FUN!
Growing Chefs! Headquarters is the former Auberge du Petit Prince Restaurant at 460 King St. in London, Ontario. This historic building will be the site of Know Your Roots! Our facility is equipped with a full commercial kitchen, dining spaces, cooking classrooms, outdoor cooking space (with woodfire pizza oven), and a lush Learning Garden! Our campers will get the benefit of all these facilities, including the extensive experience of our Chef and program teams.
For the last decade, Growing Chefs! has delivered food education programs to thousands of elementary school students. We can’t wait to build on this experience with our trained staff and updated facility to deliver an exceptionally fun and educational experience for your child! Join us on a culinary adventure!
