Celebrating Local Food Week with Growing Chefs! and The Grove at Western Fair District.
Thank you to our event sponsor, Libro Credit Union.
Growing Chefs! Ontario and The Grove at Western Fair District love educating children on food and farming, and now we want to give the ‘big kids’ a sneak peek into how we have adapted Agri-Education Programming for adults in a new initiative called ‘Dish On Food’ presented by Libro Credit Union.
Join Growing Chefs! Ontario’s Executive Chef, Katherine Jones, as she guides you through local and seasonal recipes. There is no cost to register, log in and follow along, though we will be soliciting donations throughout the broadcast. We hope you join us for this inaugural virtual fundraiser.
Optional Locally Sourced Recipe Kit:
There is an optional Recipe Kit for sale, which will include all ingredients you will need to cook along ~ PLUS a bottle of Colaneri Riesling (a splash required for the recipe; the rest for you to drink)! All ingredients for these kits are lovingly sourced from LOCAL suppliers as we are always proud to support and feature our local farmers.
The funds raised by purchases of the recipe kit go to cover those costs only – additional donations are welcomed, and greatly appreciated.
Funds raised during this virtual event will support Growing Chefs! Ontario’s continued educational shift into their new programming space: Growing Chefs! at The Grove
Full recipes, ingredients and instructions will be sent to ALL registrants one week prior to the virtual event (whether optional “kit” purchased or not).
More about Growing Chefs! Ontario & Western Fair District:
For the past 7 years, Growing Chefs! Ontario and Western Fair District have built a solid history and partnership in Food and Agriculture Education. Growing Chefs! has continually proven itself as a leading organization in Ontario, creating and providing impactful hands-on cooking and food literacy programming for schools, children, youth and families.
The Grove at WFD is an agri-business hub where participants share resources, space, and connections to create the right conditions for innovation, and growth. One of The GROVE’s main pillars is agriculture education which we achieve with the help of many partners. The Grove has a great partnership with Growing Chefs Ontario, as well as long-standing connections with many valued local farmers, and local and provincial commodity groups that together provide unique, interactive, educational programs featuring food literacy, food chains and good food! The Grove team is adapting to virtual content this year in light of the global pandemic and will present Agri-Food Education virtually!
