We’re hosting a Summer Series take on our regular Monthly Adult Cooking Classes! To take full advantage of the bounty of the season, we’re hosting two classes running subsequent weeks in early August. Come to a single class, or purchase a discounted package to join us for both!

What to Expect: Prepare to experience our high-energy, hands-on cooking class for children, adapted for adults! Led by our amazing Chef team, come explore some great new recipes, professional instruction and a sit-down meal – prepared entirely by YOU.

If you want to enjoy market produce all year round, preserving food can be a healthy and cost efficient option. There are a variety of different ways to safely prolong the shelf life of your favourite foods, but this class will focus specifically on fermentation and canning as preservation. Fermentation is a chemical reaction in which microorganisms, such as bacteria or yeast, convert carbohydrates into alcohol or organic acids under anaerobic conditions. This process creates some of our favourite funky foods such as sauerkraut, cheese, yogurt, kimchi and kombucha! We will learn to safely harness these bacteria and yeasts to produce our funky favourites!

Ages: 19+ Growing Chefs! Ontario holds a valid catering licence, meaning we are a fully licensed space during private events. We work with various Ontario companies to bring you the tastiest beverages our region has to offer, further supporting our mission to #supportlocal. A cash bar will be available, accepting cash, credit and debit cards.

Pop-up Adult Cooking Class tickets are $100 per person.

What your ticket includes: 2 and a half-hour high-energy, interactive cooking class, a sit-down meal and a donation which helps fund two children to participate in our public programming! A tax receipt for 50% of your class fee is available for each ticket purchased. One price, twice the impact!

Date & Time: Wednesday, August 10th from 6:00 to 8:30PM – Canning, Preserving & Fermenting 

Location: Classes will be returning to our iconic Headquarters facility, at 460 King St. This space offers the perfect intimate ambience to learn a new skill within the beautiful surroundings of our truly historic venue.

Masking and Vaccination: Growing Chefs! continues to work closely with Public Health as we begin to transition away from COVID-19 related health and safety protocols for our programming and events. We strongly recommend vaccinations and masking as tools to minimize the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to require masks be worn during food preparation until further notice.

Cancellations: Refund or cancellation requests must be communicated directly to Emily at [email protected]ca a minimum of 7 days prior to class. These classes are extremely popular and fill quickly, and we will open your spot to our waiting list. If cancelled with less than 7 days notice, you will be given the option to switch your ticket to a future class (if spots are available) or be provided a tax receipt for the remaining donation amount, with our thanks.
