Growing Chefs! is HIRING!!!

Thursday, May 10, 2018

The Growing Chefs! Ontario (GCO) mission is to get kids excited about healthy, wholesome food. Our belief is that engaging  food education programs for children can catalyze the evolution of a healthier, empowered community that is engaged with its food system. GCO will hire three (3) Youth Food Education Assistants for May-August (or early September), 2018 to partner in this mission.

Youth Food Education Assistants will support the delivery and development of all GCO food education programs throughout the summer. These programs include days camps, community cooking classes, dinner events, BBQs, cooking and gardening workshops, and more. A Youth Food Education Assistant’s primary responsibility will be to work directly with young people (ages 4-18) to facilitate fun, creative, and meaningful learning opportunities in our programs. Youth Food Education Assistants will also support the logistical and administrative aspects of these programs, such as registrations, program planning, and reporting. Finally, Youth Food Education Assistants will embody the communal attitude of our project by supporting any GCO program as needed, be that fundraising events, donor relations, or media opportunities.

Candidates for this position should share GCO’s curiosity about food systems, and desire to share their learning with others. If you enjoy facilitating unique opportunities for young people, learning new skills, and enjoying good food (of course), this may be the ideal summer position for you!
