Composting Program

Tuesday, March 27, 2018

Compost is a natural process that returns nutrients and organic matter to soil. It also feeds beneficial micro-organisms, insects and worms, and reduces greenhouse gases that are produced when organic material decomposes in a landfill without oxygen. More info here.

In 2017, Growing Chefs diverted 541kg (1,193 lbs) from landfill from the end of October to the end of December by composting our organic waste with the Village Compost! This initiative is led by Jessica of Wild Craft Permaculture and composting services are available for restaurants, local businesses, and in the home. Visit their page for more information!
